Looks like there has been a change in
parking prices at the Julia St Cruise Terminal. Parking is now
$12/day ($84/week.) It should also be noted that cash payment is
required for parking (no credit cards or checks) and that there are
several off-site parking areas to accommodate the increased number of
passengers sailing from New Orleans.
See more at the
Port of New Orleans website.

So far, so good. Looks like no tropical storm formation expected for

(from
CruiseNewsDaily) The
Atlantic hurricane season opens June 1 and runs thru November 30. The
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is predicting an
especially active hurricane season, forecasting 11 to 15 tropical storms,
with 6 to 9 hurricanes and 2 to 4 achieving major status.
While this may scatter cruise ships and take them off their regular
itineraries, it will also demonstrate one of their greatest strengths over
land-based resorts. If you buy a package at resort on a Caribbean island,
and a hurricane is headed right for it, you either don't go, or if you are
already there, you head home early (if you can) - or you spend a few days
of your vacation riding out the storm in a shelter hoping it doesn't blow
away.
Hurricanes are easily tracked so if you've booked a cruise, the line and
the ship are watching the storm's progress and give it a wide berth. Sure,
your ship may visit some different islands than you planned to, but at
least you've had your full vacation and your ship has avoided the bad
weather.

For
those who haven't heard, the Conquest is currently ported in Gulf Port, MS
due to the problem with the power line and current water level of the
Mississippi River. Hopefully, this will not be the case in August,
but we will need to keep close tabs on it. Carnival is providing
transportation from New Orleans to Gulf Port.

Carnival has announced a
few new kid-friendly features on its most recent ship. Carnival Conquest
will be the first ship in the fleet to have a new teen rec area, complete
with game room, dance club-with-video-wall influenced by Paris' Montmartre
(think "Moulin Rouge") and a mocktail lounge. Carnival has also expanded
offerings for the younger set; it's Camp Carnival will feature the fleet's
largest "Children's World" facility. Beyond the larger space, Carnival
will introduce a new on-board science education program on Conquest.
